Herniated and Bulging Discs

Spinal discs can develop wear and tear with age. Over time, the discs dehydrate and the cartilage stiffens, causing the outer layer to bulge out. Another issue occurs when the soft center of a spinal disc pushes through a crack in the tougher exterior casing. This herniation can compress nearby nerves or cause inflammation of the nerve root resulting in pain, numbness or weakness in an arm or leg.
